In this blog post, we will talk about the difference between Marble and Granite.
Marble and Granite are two important types of stones used in building construction.
Selection of the right type of stone can be difficult if we don’t have proper knowledge about Granite and Marble. Most peoples get confused while selecting the right types of stone.
Both Granite and Marble are equally popular in building construction.
First, we will know about Marble and Granite separately.

What is Marble?
Marble is a product of metamorphic rock. This type of rock consists of recrystallized carbonate minerals like calcite and dolomite.
The word Marble comes from the old greek word marmaron. Matmaron represents shiny crystalline stone.
Metamorphic rock is made from sedimentary rock by metamorphism. This process makes recrystallized carbonate minerals.
Marbles come in different varieties. Different countries have different types of marble.
Makrana marble is white-colored marble that comes from Rajasthan state in India. Makrana marble is a very popular stone and is used in the construction of Tajmahal.
Pantelis marble is also a very famous stone that comes from Greece. This type of marble is pure white which makes them more elegant.
What is Granite?
Granite is medium or coarse-grained igneous rock. It has a high quantity of quartz. Granite also contains mica and amphiboles.
Granite is a very hard and brittle material. It has high compressive strength and low tensile strength.
Granite is formed when magma is cool down at a certain depth on the earth’s surface. Feldspar is the main constituent of Granite stone.
Because of its different compositions, Granite is available in various colors like pink, grey, red, white, etc.
Granite is normally used to make countertops, wall cladding, staircase steps, etc.
